Deathloop is Arkane Lyon's most stylish and inventive game — a time-loop first-person shooter set on the island of Blackreef, where assassin Colt must break a time loop by eliminating eight Visionaries in a single day without dying. The design challenge is extraordinary: each of Blackreef's four districts behaves differently at different times of day, and understanding how the Visionaries' schedules interact to find the perfect killing order is a puzzle of remarkable elegance. Arkane's signature immersive sim tools — environmental kills, supernatural powers, vertical traversal, and creative problem-solving — are all present and elevated by the 70s aesthetic and outstanding writing. The Juliana invasion mechanic — where another player can invade your game as the antagonist hunter Juliana — creates a unique asymmetric tension that integrates narrative and gameplay seamlessly. Deathloop is wickedly clever and brilliantly executed.
