Dragon Ball Super: Broly is the theatrical Dragon Ball film that both longtime fans and newcomers agree is the finest theatrical entry the franchise has ever produced — a full creative reset for the Broly character and a visual spectacle that pushed Toei Animation's theatrical capabilities to their absolute limit. Director Tatsuya Nagamine and animation director Naohiro Shintani delivered hand-drawn action sequences of staggering complexity, particularly in the three-way battle's final act where the animation's physical weight and fluid chaos create a genuinely overwhelming cinematic experience. The rebuilt Broly — given an actual backstory, motivation, and even audience sympathy — transforms what was previously a merchandising mascot into a legitimately tragic character. Gogeta's return in canon form was the fan service event of the decade, handled with the bombast the moment deserved.
