Fate/Zero is ufotable's prequel to the Fate/stay night visual novel series — and arguably the finest anime adaptation in the entire Fate franchise. Adapted from Gen Urobuchi's dark, deconstructive light novel, the story depicts the Fourth Holy Grail War: a secret battle between seven Masters who each summon a legendary historical or mythological hero as their Servant to fight for the omnipotent wish-granting device.
