Ghostwire: Tokyo is Tango Gameworks' atmospheric supernatural action game set in a rain-soaked, ghost-haunted version of Tokyo — a game of extraordinary visual identity and deeply satisfying magical combat. When a mysterious fog descends on Shibuya and 99% of the population vanishes, leaving behind their ghosts, Akito Izanagi must work with the spirit of a detective who has inhabited his body to rescue his sister and uncover the conspiracy behind the mass disappearance. The weaving magic system — firing elemental projectiles by performing hand signs inspired by Japanese mudra — is uniquely expressive, and hunting down the variety of Japanese folklore monsters, each designed from genuine mythological sources, is endlessly fascinating. The recreation of Shibuya's neon-lit streets, traditional shrines, and rain-slicked alleys is a love letter to Tokyo's visual culture. Spider's Thread DLC adds substantial stealth-focused content. A criminally underappreciated gem.
