Diablo IV is Blizzard's triumphant return to the dark roots of the legendary action RPG franchise — a game draped in gothic horror atmosphere that recaptures the brooding darkness of Diablo II while pushing the series forward with a massive open world and deeply satisfying live-service progression. Set in the bleak world of Sanctuary following the events of Diablo III, the game's story campaign pits players against Lilith, the Mother of Sanctuary, in a narrative far more cinematically impressive than anything the franchise has previously attempted. Five character classes — Barbarian, Sorcerer, Druid, Necromancer, and Rogue — offer wildly different playstyles, and the endgame gear chase and seasonal content give dedicated players hundreds of hours of progression. Season of the Witch and the Vessel of Hatred expansion significantly expanded the already enormous content offering. A worthy standard-bearer for the ARPG genre.
