Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day

The story follows Jin-tan, Anaru, Yukiatsu, Tsuruko, Poppo, and Menma, three inseparable girls and three inseparable boys living in the countryside.

Unfortunately, after a fatal accident involving Menma, the group of friends drifts apart. Following these events, each chooses a different path: Anaru spends most of her time with her friends, Poppo dreams of traveling, Yukiatsu and Tsuruko attend the same high school and remain close, and Jin-tan becomes a hikikomori (recluse).

One summer day, Menma's spirit returns to Jin-tan without explanation and will only leave once Jin-tan has fulfilled her wish. Jin-tan is the only one who can see Menma. Thinking it's due to the trauma of her disappearance, he initially believes she is merely a hallucination.

But despite this, he will do everything he can to fulfill the wish of the missing girl, and will thus reunite his old group of friends.

At first, they think Jintan has gone mad. But they will realize that their desire to fulfill their deceased friend's wish is very real, and that their friend Jintan wasn't lying when he said he saw and spoke to her.
